How to create your own screw string art picture

What you need:

a wooden board
pattern
screws
cordless drill driver
yarn or wool

you will also need:

scotch tape
ruler
picture holder (i go with a soda can tab)
(drilling machine)

Let’s begin.

If you have a pattern printed or drawn, cut it out and tape it on the board. If you are not sure whether your pattern is centered, you can align it with the ruler. Then you can start driving the screws into the board. Try to keep the screws at the same height when you drill them in, that will look the best.

Tip: If you have trouble to get the screws in, you can also pre-drill the holes.

Tip: Try to select a pattern that is large enough and try to space the screw far enough apart, otherwise it will become difficult to add more screws at some point.

When you are done with the screws, pick your yarn or the wool and start connecting the screws.

There are different techniques. As you can see in the picture, you can just connect the screws once outside and once inside. Another technique is, the wild crossing, from one to the other corner. Tip: It’s very important to keep tension on the yarn/wool at all times until you are completely done.
